Getting the most from your visit

We have recently embraced the new Kent Greeters scheme. If you are visiting Kent and would like to know more about it then contact the Kent Greeters at www.kentgreeters.co.uk (at least two weeks before your visit.) They will;

  • provide a greeter for up to four-hours to show you, and up to six people, around
  • you will be made aware of interesting facts and be shown sites you may not find on your own
  • answer any questions and help you become orientated with the area
  • explain how to use the public transport system
  • advise you on restaurants and places of entertainment
  • meet you regardless of the weather
  • enlighten you on the areas rich historical and cultural background.

This scheme is entirely free.

Faversham is a tempting destination for visitors. There is a very good website at www.faversham.org which covers many of the places to see. The town is an historic treasure trove of listed buildings with fabulous secluded countryside around us. For the walkers and birdwatchers there are some wonderful walks around here. We'd be delighted to lend you maps and point you in the right direction.

The town itself is an unspoilt delight. There is a wonderful medieval covered market place which provides the focus for the town and the base for our town market three times a week (Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays).

Faversham is home to Shepherd Neame, Britain's oldest brewery (which owns The Railway Hotel) and the town is often filled with the lovely smell of the malt in the brewing process! Why not include a brewery tour when you visit? Have a look at www.shepherdneame.co.uk for further details.

Nearby we have the national fruit collection at Brogdale. The city of Canterbury is 10 miles away (15 minutes on the train) and is packed with interesting places to visit. London is just an hour away by train.

All of us are rightly proud of our town. We'd be delighted to assist in helping you get the most from your visit. Please feel free to contact us if you would like to know more.
